Generate Sturgis is a collaboration of various local government and business representatives working with state agencies to develop an entrepreneurial culture within the City of Sturgis and surrounding areas. For 2012, Generate Sturgis is kicking off two initiatives in order to achieve this goal, Coffee Chats and Business Idea Contests.

The Coffee Chats, starting in February, will provide an informal setting where creative minds can share ideas for new businesses, services or products. It's a chance to discuss ideas one-on-one with someone interested in helping people explore what other services and connections might be needed to advance their ideas. The Business Idea Contests offer citizens of the Sturgis area a chance to submit business ideas for the opportunity to earn $2,000. Business ideas can be submitted online, and if selected, individuals will present their ideas during one of the four contest events to be held at Sturges-Young Auditorium starting in March.
