The Street and Sidewalk Improvement Millage on the ballot Tuesday passed by an unofficial count of 566 "yes" to 374 "no". Full election results are available at www.stjosephcountymi.org.

Street improvement is one of the goals of the City's 10-year Sturgis 2022 initiative, and a sure funding source through the millage is a big step in achieving that goal. The street millage will levy 3 mills on property tax for 10 years and will start with the Summer 2013 tax bill. The millage is expected to raise over $6.7 million over the next decade for street and sidewalk repair and improvement.
