Brush Pickup Scheduled for Week of July 18th

Due to the storm last Monday, the City of Sturgis has scheduled a brush pickup for the City starting next Monday, July 18th. Crews will begin picking up brush on the north side of town and will work their way to the south. Residents wanting to have brush removed must have it cut to lengths of no more than 8 feet and it is not to be any larger than 4” in diameter.

As with the regularly scheduled brush pickups, no grass clippings, roots, thorn bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps, or construction materials will be collected; a limit of 1 truck load of material per parcel will be collected and hauled away; and
materials must be neatly stacked on the terrace away from objects or obstructions such as power poles, guy wires, sign posts, valve boxes, etc.

Residents are asked to have brush ready for collection on Monday morning by 7:30 a.m. If you miss collection or have more than one truck load of brush, the City's compost site is available to residents free of charge. For more ... [more]

July Brush Pickup

The City will be completing one of its three scheduled brush pickups for the year starting on Tuesday, July 5th. The City will begin collection at the north of town and work its way south. Residents should place brush out no more than 48 hours before scheduled collection.

The City will collect only one truck load of material per parcel. Any brush that is left is the responsibility of the property owner to remove. If you have additional brush left or get your brush out after collection in your area it should be removed within 24 hours.

As part of the City's code of ordinances, brush placed in the street or left out for an extended period of time can receive a fine. For those people placing brush out when collections are not scheduled, the City may collect the brush and bill the citizen for the staff and equipment time to do so.
