Why Start a Blog?

My primary purpose of blogging is to communicate with citizens and businesses on all types of issues related to the City of Sturgis. These could include details about weighty issues, information about services or upcoming projects, notable improvements or setbacks and the good work that our employees do every day. Over the years I've learned that in almost every case, the better information that people have, the more they understand the decision-making, even if they don't agree. So, if technology can help the City communicate better… I'm all for it.

For those that know me, I always take the time to listen and welcome comments and feedback. If you would like to share your thoughts with me confidentially, I'm a phone call away or would be happy to have you stop by my office. Welcome to the Newsfeed!

In an effort to provide more timely information and communications to City residents, we are starting City Newsfeed, a combination news channel and blog here on the City's homepage. Through the newsfeed, the City will provide brief articles with eWire Info, as well as blog posts from the City Manager and hopefully in the future other staff members or departments.

The Newsfeed will be a supplement to our other communication efforts, which include the Sturgis eWire e-mail newsletter (sign up at the link below!), Wire newsletter, media releases to local newspaper and radio outlets, facebook pages, open houses, surveys, and more. It is our intent that the newsfeed can become yet another resource for you to find out what we are doing and why we are doing it.

Be sure to use the button at the bottom of each post to comment on the topic and provide us with some feedback. We ask only that you keep your comments clean and constructive and refrain from personal attacks.
