Get Involved - Advisory Committee Vacancies

The City of Winter Haven currently has vacant seats vacant on two advisory committees - Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) and Multimodal Transportation Advisory Committee (MTAC).

AHAC is looking for representation from the Northeast Quadrant and from the disabled community or related service provider Representative Seat. Seats will be filled based on qualified applications received in the event no one from the respective areas requested applies and each term would be for a period of four years. MTAC meets quarterly at Winter Haven City Hall, Conference Room, 451 Third Street, NW.

The AHAC will meet quarterly at the Winter Haven City Hall, John Fuller Auditorium, 451 Third Street, NW. Vacancies are for members representing the following areas:
• One citizen actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing
• One citizen actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable
• One citizen actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing
• One citizen residing in the jurisdiction of the Winter Haven City limits (this position serves as an alternate)
• One citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction
• One citizen who represents essential services personnel, as defined in the local housing assistance plan

Members are appointed by the City Commission, serve two-year terms, and can be re-appointed.

The MTAC provides guidance and recommendations to the City Commission, staff and community on items such as:
• Feasible implementation of the 2011 systemwide “Sidewalk, Pedestrian and Multi-Modal Infrastructure Access Plan”
• Implementation of transportation improvements pertaining to multi-modal movement
• Communication, dialogue and exchange of ideas, and advocacy for safe and convenient enjoyment of community multi-modal facilities
• Review of potential projects and initiatives
• Receive public input pertaining to multi-modal transportation infrastructure

Completed applications for AHAC must be returned to the City Clerk by February 10, 2017; and completed applications for MTAC must be returned to the City Clerk by February 13, 2017.
