Join in a fun time of music in Central Park at this free community sing-along with music by local musicians. Event is held downtown in Central Park the first Friday of each month September through May; and is sponsored by Winter Haven Hospital and the City of Winter Haven. The Kiwanis Club of Winter Haven Foundation hosts its 16th annual Serving the Children charity golf tournament at Cypresswood Golf & Country Club Saturday, May 4. Players, sponsors, and prize donations are being accepted. Show your support for your community by participating or making a tax-deductible contribution. The tournament features cash prizes for the top three teams, longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, plus lots of great door prizes for anyone to win. A hole-in-one on select par 3 holes could win a 2013 Malibu from the Chevrolet Center of Winter Haven or a trip to Las Vegas worth $10,000. Bake sale and barbecue will benefit the family of Master Dep. Shane Robbins, who died in a one-vehicle accident, April 26, while on duty with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The event will include music and comedy entertainment, clowns, balloons, raffles and fire and law enforcement vehicle displays. All procces will go to Alisa Robbins, wife of Dep. Robbins, and their five children. The event will be at Central Park, in downtown Winter Haven. Baked goods are needed. To donate, call 863-514-4274 or 863-604-7785.

We all live in a watershed. Come learn about the Peace Creek Watershed during a recreational kayak tour hosted by UF/IFAS Polk County Extension and the City of Winter Haven's Natural Resources Division. Come learn about common lakefront issues, wildlife habitat, aquatic plant identification, and muck more. Due to available kayaks, space is limited to 13 people. The Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team will perform a 40 minute show reminiscent of shows previously held at Cypress Gardens, featuring doubles, swivel skiers, barefooting and jumping. The event is free and will be held at MLK, Jr. Park on Lake Silver. Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team was started by former waterskiers from Cypress Gardens Theme Park who wanted to pass on their show skiing legacy to the next generation.

Representatives from the City Planning and Public Services Divisions will be present to address public concerns. Please consider attending the meeting and participate in the discussions.
