Beginning July 1, the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) water restrictions changed from once a week to twice a week. As a local agency, the City of Winter Haven follows rules adopted by the water management district. Whether you live inside Winter Haven City limits, or in unincorporated Polk County and are a Winter Haven utilities customer, SWFWMD restrictions are to be followed.
Even-numbered addresses may water Thursday and/or Sunday before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
Odd-numbered addresses may water Wednesday and/or Saturday before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
Hand watering and micro-irrigation of plants (other than lawns) may be done at any time, on any day.
New lawns and plants may be watered any day during the first 30 days to help establish the plantings. During the second 30 days, new plantings may be watered three times a week: even-numbered addresses on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday; odd-numbered addresses on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
There are no restrictions on fountains, car washing and pressure washing, however, SWFWMD asks that residents be as efficient as possible, including the use of a shut-off nozzle to prevent water waste.
