Pasadena pair accused of human trafficking, forced prostitution of teenager
A Pasadena woman and her associate are accused of forcing the woman's 14-year-old daughter to prostitute herself.
Edith Sauceda and Reynaldo Alaniz, also of Pasadena, are charged with trafficking of persons and compelling prostitution, according to documents retrieved from the Harris County court system.
According to probable cause documents, the girl was living in the Empire Village apartment complex on Burke Road with her mother, who started taking the child with her when she was allegedly working as a prostitute at different apartment complexes.
Eventually, the customers started asking if they could have sex with the girl, court documents state, and Sauceda then allegedly made her daughter work as a prostitute every day during a period in August and September.
The girl told a forensic interviewer at the children assessment center that “sometimes I didn't want to go, and she forced me to do it, she would tell me, ‘go, go, to be able to smoke and who knows what. And I had to get in there with them,'” court documents state.
The girl told the interviewer that her mother told the clients that her daughter was 17 but that she, the girl, told them that she was only 14. She also said in the tape recorded interview that her mother would allegedly charge the men between $20 and $50 for having sex with her daughter and that she would leave her alone with the men until they were finished sexually assaulting her and sometimes longer.
At some point in September, Sauceda and her daughter moved in with Alaniz, who lived in the same apartment complex, and one day, Sauceda allegedly left to go to the store and never came back, according to the court document.
Alaniz allegedly told the girl that in order for her to continue to live with him, she would have to prepare food and have sex with him and that she could not leave the apartment without his permission, another court document states.
