Woman arrested in Palatka accused of selling baby for truck

Investigators said the trade was made in January a week-old newborn for a 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup truck then the mother fled to Florida.

The baby boy's 30-year-old mother was extradited back to Kentucky Monday to face charges of human trafficking of a victim younger than 18 after her arrest in Palatka, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Heather Ann Kaminsky is scheduled for arraignment Friday in Laurel District Court in Kentucky, according to The Sentinel-Echo. She was found at the Winn-Dixie supermarket on Florida 19 in Palatka by Sheriff's Office detective John Merchant and the U.S. Marshals Service on July 18.

The Sheriff's Office said Kaminsky had previous connections to Putnam County, and two other children had been taken from her by the Florida Department of Children and Families. Tipped that she might have returned to Putnam County, Merchant sta... [more]
