Police: San Antonio couple charged with human trafficking for prostituting girl online
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police have charged a couple who they say prostituted an underage girl who ran away from home.
Officer Douglas Greene says 25-year-olds Tabitha Donabella and Calup Tsandula have been charged with human trafficking. They were arrested Tuesday night.
Green says the couple bought the girl from another person for $50 after she ran away from home in early October. He says they prostituted the girl online in early November and that a potential client convinced the girl to call police. Her age wasn't released.
Donabella says she thought the girl was 18 and that she was trying to protect her. Tsandula also said they were trying to help the girl.
It wasn't immediately clear if they have attorneys.

"This arrest shows the underground world of human trafficking is fueled by predators from all walks of life," Goddard said.
District Attorney Seth Williams says testimony by the girl included specific details about the attorney's office and his life to verify her allegations.
"She even detailed this defendant's wife made Irish potatoes that the defendant tried to give her some," he said.
