Burn Permit Application

Purpose. A 4 hour permit can be obtained from the Fire Chief�s office during normal business hours. Ten days advanced notice must be given prior to the open burning and the permit must be signed by the Chief or Assistant Chief. Along with the permit you will be given a copy of the ordinance, which states:

ONLY DRY SEASONED WOOD CAN BE USED CAN NOT USE GASOLINE TOTAL FIRE AREA CAN NOT EXCEED 3 FEET BY 3 FEET MUST BE 50 FEET FROM ANY STRUCTURE PROVISIONS SHALL BE MADE TO PREVENT SPREADING SHALL BE CONSTANTLY ATTENDED MUST HAVE ON SITE EXTINGUISHMENT EQUIPMENT

(Please Note: You will be required to bring The Request Tracking Number that you will receive when you submit this form to the Fire station located at 2300 Madison Avenue in order to obtain your permit).

The Granite City Fire Department reserves the right to revoke the issued permit at any time.
