The City of Georgetown is soliciting proposals for the removal of asbestos containing materials from a vacant industrial building in the Maryville Section of Georgetown, formerly known as Eagle Electric Manufacturing, located at 2928 S. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440. The City has decided that the future use of the site does not warrant extensive repair cost of the roof, electrical, plumbing, and other systems in the building that would make the entire building useful and safe for occupancy. The City would like to demolish approximately 106,000 sq. ft. of the building. Prior to any demolition, all asbestos containing materials must be removed.
The City will conduct a Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting at 10 am on Friday, April 27, 2012. This meeting will be held at City Hall Council Chambers, located at 120 North Fraser Street in Georgetown, SC, 29440. At this meeting, the City will briefly review the project scope and allow prospective contractors to ask questions. In addition, all proposal documents will be available. A Mandatory Tour of the site will be conducted after the meeting. Prospective contractors who wish to view the site for the purpose of taking measurements and assessing the scope of the project, must do so at this time. Proposals will not be accepted from contractors who are not represented at the Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting and Tour. Questions regarding the City’s Request for Proposal process or services sought, please contact Bonnie L Infinger, Purchasing Agent, via email at binfinger@cogsc.com no later than 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. One (1) original and three (3) copies of the proposer’s submission are required and must be received no later than 11 am on Monday, May 14, 2012, at which time they will be opened publicly. Proposals shall be placed in a sealed envelope and clearly marked, “CITY OF GEORGETOWN EAGLE BUILDING REMOVAL OF ASBESTOS-CONTAINING MATERIALS”, and be delivered to Bonnie L. Infinger at 120 North Fraser Street (29440), Post Office Drawer 939 (29442), Georgetown, South Carolina. Faxed or late submissions will not be accepted for any reason.
No RFP will be accepted after its due date and time specified above. The City reserves the right to waive any technicalities or informalities and to accept or reject any and/or all submissions as deemed by its sole judgment to be in its best interest. The City also reserves the right to terminate the selection process without notice, to change the schedule of events, to waive any irregularities in any submittal, and to request additional information from any firm submitting an RFP.
