November 3, 2009 Local Bond Referendum

by Christina Schappacher

On November 3, 2009 the voters of North Kingstown will be asked to allow the Town to borrow up to $10 million for the installation of sewers along a portion of Post Road and Camp Avenue. The Town recently completed a sanitary sewer facility plan outlining the current need and future installation plans for sanitary sewers along Post Road, beginning in the south from the Rhode Island State Police Barracks to the northern end of Post Road at the East Greenwich Town line. The proposed North Kingstown Sewer Bond will encompass the first phase of the South Post Road Corridor Sewer Improvements Project. The $10 million will be used to design and install the necessary infrastructure within Post Road and Camp Avenue, as well as providing the required improvements to the Quonset Development Corporations Wastewater Treatment Facility. The Town of North Kingstown is in the process of entering into an agreement with the Quonset Development Corporation to provide wastewater treatment for the projected additional flows generated within the Town. This bond issue is essential to the long term health and stability of the economic base of North Kingstown.
