There is an injured/abandoned animal in my yard. Who should I call?
First, be sure the animal is injured or abandoned. Some species of animals only tend to their young incrementally during the day and depend on the camouflage of the nest to protect them. If you believe it is in distress contact a private animal control company such as SPCA or Cincinnati Animal Control.
For deer, contact the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife's Hamilton County District Officer at (937) 372-5639 x5217. For a list of licensed wildlife rehabbers, please call the Hamilton County Park District, (513) 521-7275 ext. 240. To report poaching issues, call the ODNR's Xenia office (937) 372-9261.
