Support the Children's area of the Winter Haven Public Library by participating in the 19th Annual Shamrock Walk and Run. The Friends of the Winter Haven Public Library invite you and your entire family – including the dog! – out for this fun-filled day in the park!

On Saturday, March 10 join us for the 19th Annual Shamrock, Walk & Run with activities and events for all ages! Whether you want to register for the 5k race, 2-mile walk, kids' races or 1-mile jog-with-your-dog or just sit in the shade and enjoy the live band, bounce house and great food and drinks, there is something for everyone! Race day registration begins at 1 p.m. and events start at 2 p.m. 5k or 2-mile race is $17 through March 3; and $20 thereafter. 1-mile jog with your dog is $25 through March 3; and $30 thereafter. Kids races cost $7 through March 3; and $10 thereafter.

All proceeds benefit the Children's Department of the Winter Haven Public Library.

Do you use the City's recreation facilities at the Chain O' Lakes Complex, or the Theatre? Almost everyone does at some point or another. Make your opinion heard at public open house meetings about planning new facilities that will replace the existing Chain O' Lakes Complex.

The first meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 21, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the Poolside Room, Chain O' Lakes Complex, 210 Cypress Gardens Blvd. This meeting is for anyone who wants to give input on new recreation and aquatics facilities.

A second meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 28, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., also in the Poolside Room at the Chain O' Lakes Complex.

The meetings will feature a brief presentation by staff and consultants on the progress to date. Then it's the public's turn to ask questions and give input on what should be included at the new facilities and where they should be located.
