7/9/2014 5:30 PM (Neighborhoods) Community Workshop - Application No. 14-CW-10
As required by the City of Sarasota, a community meeting is being held to discuss a proposed Governmental Zone Waiver (GZone Waiver) for replacement of a free-standing pylon sign at 2896 Ringling Boulevard. The subject property, commonly referred to as Robarts Arena and owned by the Sarasota County Agricultural Fair Association, Inc., is zoned Governmental (G) and is also within the Fruitville Gateway Corridor Overlay District (FCOD). The owner is proposing to replace the existing freestanding pylon sign with a smaller two-sided monument style sign in the same location that includes an LED panel allowing for variable text and graphics. The overall sign dimensions are proposed to be 12’ wide by 14.8’ high and the sign will contain a planter base with appropriate landscaping, per City Zoning Code. The Fair Association will have the ability to control the day/night level of illumination and dim or turn off the panels at night. The proposed sign will be able to withstand up to a 150 MPH wind load. The Fair Association will design the sign to minimize light spillage and for it to generally blend with surrounding materials and colors. The G-Zone waivers being requested relate to: 1) lighting; 2) height and sign proportion; 3) messaging and change in copy; and 4) setback and sight visibility.

2542 17th Street, Sarasota, FL 34234 Learn how to walk adoptable Cat Depot cats on a leash and harness to provide the cats with much needed physical and mental stimulation. If you are interested in attending, you must register online http://www.catdepot.org/education/cat-socialization.aspx or email Cody at codyc@catdepot.org. In a shelter environment, we try to provide as much stimulation for the cats and kittens as possible to reduce stress and boredom. Teaching cats and kittens to walk on a leash not only provides stimulation, it improves social skills and increases their ability to adapt to new environments. It can also bring attention to some cats who normally do not stand out in a large group, increasing their chances of getting adopted.
