Thursday, June 9, 2016, 4:30pm Holley Hall, 709 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34236 In honor of the late Joseph Silverstein We open our festival season with a moving tribute to virtuoso and longtime Festival faculty member Joseph Silverstein. The concert features a selection of his favorite pieces performed by Festival faculty. Four powerfully poignant chamber works â?" Bach's stately Cantata, Schubert's moving adagio, Dvořák serene Notturno, and Brahms's plaintive Andante make prime companions to Beethoven's Violin Sonata. Ardent in its intensity, this alluring showcase for violin will be an apt eulogy to Maestro Silverstein. Mozart's stately Piano Quintet communicates elegance unrivaled by any other composer, and Mozart declared it the best work he had ever written.
