Wednesday Through Sundays, 9 am to 3 pm Starting May 4 at the Permit Office in Administration Building at Rye Town Park, 95 Dearborn Ave., Rye NY. Resident Seniors who have permits dated on and before 2010 DO NOT have to renew their permits. For further information and details, call the park at 914 967-0965. The Cancer Support Team®, a major Westchester-based non-profit that assists people and families battling cancer, is having its annual fundraising gala on Friday, May 6. The Stars on the Water Gala will include a cocktail reception and silent auction starting at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and awards beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club is located at 555 South Barry Avenue, Mamaroneck. Gadgets Science Fun Club for Grades 3 - 5 offers children a chance to engage in hands-on inquiry-based experiments. In this one-hour club, participants will focus on a different S.T.E.M. activity each month with handouts to follow up at home. Through this program children will begin to see that science, technology, engineering, and math can be fun. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Meets the third Friday of the month October through June. Registration begins on May 13th.

5/21/2016 4:00 PM (NOT FOR PROFIT) Dinosaur Lecture at Meeting House
On Saturday, May 21, the Bird Homestead nonprofit will present Are Dinosaurs Really Extinct? by Paleontologist Lowell Dingus, Ph.D. of the American Museum of Natural History at the Meeting House on Milton Road at 4 pm. It is geared toward a general audience and is suitable for adults and students in 4th grade and up. As a special feature, Dr. Dingus will bring a few fossil specimens to the Meeting House. Roland T. Bird of the the Bird Homestead in Rye was a pioneering paleontologist at the American Museum of Natural History in the 1930s and early 40s. Suggested donation is $5 per person at the door. Taxpayers are reminded that 2016 County, Sewer and Refuse Disposal taxes are due during the month of May. Payment may be made in person at Rye City Hall, or by mail, using the return address envelope with your tax bill. You can also make payments online @ www.ryeny.gov. In order to avoid penalty, payments being made in person or online must be received by Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Payments made by mail must have a U.S. Post Office mark no later than Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
