On Saturday, May 2, at 4 pm, Dr. Judith Weis, Professor of Biological Sciences at Rutgers University, will speak at the Rye Meeting House on her new book, Marine Pollution, published by Oxford University Press. An engaging overview of the many facets of marine pollution, the book is organized in a lively question and answer format. It is part of Oxford’s acclaimed What Everyone Needs to Know series. Marine pollution occurs today in varied forms, including chemical, industrial, and agricultural. Dr. Weis will present ideas on how to fix many of the pollution-related issues surrounding marine ecosystems. The book also covers major historical instances of pollution, such as the Exxon Valdez.Books will be available for sale and signing by the author. This program is co-sponsored by the Bird Homestead nonprofit and the LI SoundFest. Admission is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted.
