The Town of Mooresville is seeking an innovative and progressive fire professional and leader to serve as its Fire Chief. The Fire Chief reports directly to the Town Manager and is responsible for the effectiveness and quality of fire prevention and fire suppression activities of the Town. He/she develops and directs Fire Department policy, procedure, programs, goals and objectives. Our new Fire Chief will join a proud organization with a history of providing exceptional fire service and a tradition of excellence in serving the community. Mooresville Fire & Rescue takes great pride in the range of services that are offered to the community including, but not limited to, fire suppression, medical first response, hazardous materials response, rescue, car seat safety checks, fire prevention programs, fire investigations, and pre-incident surveys and inspections. The department operates out of four fire stations with four engine companies and one tower/ladder company. Our district includes industrial and manufacturing facilities, motorsports venues and complexes, a Fortune 50 company, shopping centers, hospitals, nursing homes and residential homes. The Fire Chief oversees 92 employees with an approved budget of $6.5 million for FY2012-13. A new fire station will be built this fiscal year.
Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of increasingly responsible fire service experience in a paid career position. This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of senior fire company supervisory experience or the equivalent managerial or supervisory experience. A bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university with major coursework in fire science, fire administration, public administration, business administration, health care, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
