May 8 – June 26, Wednesdays
Tai Chi, May 8 - June 26 - Cancelled.

Tai Chi

Wednesdays May 8 – June 26 (8 classes), 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Annex Building. Minimum of 12 needed by May 3. NOTE: Since we did not meet the minimum to run this class for the May 8 session, we are cancelling this session. We are planning a new session and hope that we will meet the minimum to run the class. The new session has a new date and time which is TUESDAYS from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and it will start on Tuesday, May 21. The registration deadline is on Friday, May 17 for the new session.

Often called a ”moving meditation” Tai Chi has its roots in martial arts. The movements are practiced slowly and smoothly with attention to proper posture and breathing. Tai Chi is easy to learn, effective and safe, it increases flexibility, muscle strength, and heart/lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance, and integrates the mind and body. Studies show a 70% reduction in reoccurring falls, 35% reduction in arthritis pain and an increase in performance of activities of daily living. Regular Tai Chi practice lowers high blood pressure, improves the immune system, reduces stress and increases strength and balance. Time Magazine called Tai Chi "the perfect exercise" - especially for the older adult.

Classes taught by Master Tai Chi Trainer Ralph Dehner Certified Tai Chi Instructor, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and one of only 17 Master/Trainers in Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health programs in the U.S.
