The City of Monroe has an active street improvement program. Many factors influence the order in which City streets are improved including public safety, funding sources, and coordinated projects.
An annual street survey is developed and can be viewed here. The survey contains detailed information regarding street conditions, alley conditions, and City priorities based on that information. The document also contains a map outlining street conditions which can be viewed separately here. Higher numbers represent streets of increasing need of repair with improvement consideration typically initiating at a level of 8.0.
Please note that while street conditions are certainly a major motivator toward repair, public safety issues often require that street improvements be coordinated with underground infrastructure improvements such as water and sewer. Every effort is made to coordinate projects to receive maximum benefit.
