Trailers and Recreational Vehicles - Improper Parking

It is the intention of the City of Monroe to maintain a clean and safe environment for all of its residents and patrons. Please help us by reporting any suspected ordinance violation.

Permitted Use: This section shall not be used to prohibit transport of goods to or from existing businesses or residences, or the necessary usage of trailers or semi trailers on streets or trailers areas for a specific and temporary purpose, other than habitation, for a period not to exceed 24 hours. Nothing in this section shall be construed to allow periodic or habitual trailers of trailers or semi-trailers on City streets.

Residential trailer parking: Trailers and recreational vehicles must be parked at or behind the setback of existing structures so as to not act as visual obstruction or hazard.

Parking on City property: No utility trailer, boat trailer, or trailer designed for habitation, recreation or business purposes shall be parked on City streets or parking areas.

Boat ramp: Any tow vehicle and trailer parked upon any portion of a Municipally-owned boat ramp without displaying a proper permit may be towed away and impounded by the Police Department, and the owner thereof shall be guilty of illegal parking and shall be liable for any and all costs of towing and storage which the Police Department might incur in carrying out the terms of this section.

For the purpose of this chapter, any tow vehicle and trailer parked upon any portion of a Municipally-owned boat ramp without displaying a proper permit shall be deemed to have been parked there by the owner thereof.
