5/4/2013 7:00 AM (Environmental Event) Free Compost giveaway for Menlo Park Residents
Pick up free compost at Bedwell Bayfront Park located at the east end of Menlo Park at Highway 101 and Marsh Road for Menlo Park Residents. Available at 7:00 am while supplies last. Up to 1 cubic yard of compost per resident. Don't forget to bring shovels, gloves, containers, and Menlo Park proof of residency. Please see press release and flyer

Menlo Park residents and businesses are invited to bring confidential files to shred and outdated electronics for recycling to our Corporation Yard located at 333 Burgess Drive on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a free event for Menlo Park residents and business owners. Residents will need to bring proof of residency such as a utility bill or driver's license with Menlo Park address and businesses will need to provide a Menlo Park businesses license or business card. 2013 Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour. Sunday, May 5, 2013 10am - 5pm • Registration is now open! • May 4 and 5 during the Tour’s Native Plant Sale Extravaganza. • Select Tours offered in Spring 2013. • Visit View the Gardens to read garden descriptions, view garden photos, and download plant lists. Want to showcase your garden? Applications for the 2014 Tour are now being accepted. You can download the application form from the Tour website. Garden visits will be made in May and June. (Please note that gardens must contain at least 60% or more native plants.)

Thursday, May 9th is the 19th Annual Bike to Work Day event. On Bike to Work Day, Energizer Stations will be set-up throughout the Bay Area to encourage bicyclists to ride. An Energizer Station is a small booth set-up along the roadways of major bicycle commuting routes that has refreshments and goodies. Please log on to www.511.org to see all the activities going on throughout the Bay Area. The website has a list of all the Energizer stations that will be giving away bike bags and other goodies. The City of Menlo Park will be hosting Energizer stations at the following locations: Willow Place bike bridge San Mateo bike bridge Pierce St. ped/bike bridge (over hwy. 101) and Caltrain (two stations – east side and west side of the tracks) The stations will be open from 7 a.m.- 9 a.m. Please stop by and say hello and pick up your bike bag.
