3/2/2014 10:00 AM (Parks & Recreation) Sugar Camp Week ~ Makin' Maple Syrup FINAL DAY
Step back in time to life in a backwoods sugar camp. Meet Elrod Tapper, an American frontiersman, dressed in clothing of the day, working with tools and accoutrements of 150-200 years ago, making maple syrup 'the old fashioned way'. Then spend time with Hickory in his abode and see how sap water was collected and made into hard sugar, using heated stones and wooden bowls, as Shawnee Indians would have done.

Meet at Shelterhouse 2. Steve Trauger, KCP&R's Programs Coordinator (er, Elrod Tapper) will be your guide into the 'wilds' of Middleton-Mills Park.

BIG thanks to Emerson Industrial Automation our Program Partner for Sugar Camp ~ Makin' Maple Syrup.
