The IURA secures and manages resources to improve the social, physical, and economic characteristics of the City of Ithaca by expanding access to quality affordable housing, strengthening neighborhoods and the local economy, and supporting other community development activities. Commons Advisory Board (CAB)
The CAB generally meets on the first Friday of each month, at 8:30 a.m. in Common Council Chambers, Third Floor, City Hall, 108 E. Green Street.
The CAB is principally charged with oversight of the issuance of permits for the use of the Commons, as well as public/private construction, renovation, and rehabilitation of building façades and open spaces, and the general maintenance of order on the Commons. Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA)
The BZA ordinarily meets on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m., in Common Council Chambers, City Hall, 108 E. Green St. The BZA is charged with issuing Area Variances (for the use of land in a manner not allowed by applicable zoning regulations), Special Permits (for a particular land use permitted in a zoning ordinance/local law, subject to requirements imposed by such zoning ordinance or local law, to assure the proposed use is in harmony with such zoning ordinance/local law and will not adversely affect the neighborhood if such requirements are met), and Use Variances (for the use of land for a purpose not otherwise allowed, or is prohibited by, the applicable zoning regulations).
