Wednesday, June 29, Thursday, June 30, & Friday, July 1 Adult Program Room and Outdoors, weather permitting 2– 5 pm Bethany Caldarona returns with another fun program intended for kids in the elementary grades. Younger children are welcome, but should be accompanied by someone who can assist them with projects. We’ll learn about the Olympics and do activities and crafts that help us prepare. Because of carryover from day to day, children should attend all three sessions.

Come learn how to boost your pet’s health by simply improving their nutrition. The right diet can reduce allergies, digestive issues, and even clean their teeth naturally. Jill Tack, owner of The Pet Beastro and Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor, will review what food ingredients are best for your pet and why you certain ingredients should be avoided. Dr. Tack will demystify the making of pet food and what manufacturing companies “market” and totally dismiss. She will also discuss the importance of high-quality treats and your pet’s environment. Join us to learn how to feed better, so your pet is healthier and ultimately will live longer.

Grace Alexander will provide a hula hoop program for children and teens at the John F. Kennedy, Jr. Library on Saturday, July 9 from 1pm until 2pm. The program will be outdoors if weather permits, and will consist of a 15-20 minute demonstration followed by a chance for the kids to learn how to do some hula hoop moves.

With public anticipation running high, Apple Inc. co-founders Steve Jobs (Michael Fassbender) and Steve "Woz" Wozniak (Seth Rogen) get ready to unveil the first Macintosh in 1984. Jobs must also deal with personal issues related to ex-girlfriend Chrisann Brennan and their young daughter Lisa. Eventually fired, Jobs launches NeXT Inc. and prepares to release a new computer model in 1988. Ten years later, Jobs is back at Apple Inc. and about to revolutionize the industry once again with the iMac.

Local Organized Crime historian, Paul Kavieff will be talking about the Jaworski Gang. They were a gang notorious for their safe cracking and bank robbing antics, who operated out of Hamtramck in the late 1920s. Early in their career they were known as the Flathead gang and operated out of Pennsylvania where they robbed mining company payrolls. Mr. Kavieff will tell of their biggest heists and of their downfall where their leader was sent to the electric chair in 1929.

All ages welcome to come and play bingo for some nice prizes. We will Bingo until we run out of prizes, or time, whichever comes first. Adults can play up to 4 cards at one time. Ages 8-17 can play up to 3 cards at one time and Children 7 & under can play 1 or 2 cards and must be accompanied by an adult.

APR A & B. Our film is Zootopia. From the largest elephant to the smallest shrew, the city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive. When Judy Hopps becomes the first rabbit to join the police force, she quickly learns how tough it is to enforce the law. Determined to prove herself, Judy jumps at the opportunity to solve a mysterious case. Unfortunately, that means working with Nick Wilde, a wily fox who makes her job even harder. Family Movie Nights usually occur on the last Tuesday of the month. We show the film at 4 pm and again at 6:30 pm. The films are always rated G or PG. The programs are free of charge. Members of the Teen Advisory Board will be selling treats to benefit library programs.

The Teen Advisory Board meets each month, one hour before Teen Movie Night, from 5:00 – 6:00 to discuss anything and everything pertaining to the library. Come tell Ms. Jennifer what books, CDs, DVDs, and video games that you want the library to buy. Help plan programs and choose upcoming movie night movies. Prospective TAB members are always welcome to attend. Ages 11-17 are welcome.

Join us for great movies! The shows start at 6:00 pm, with the movies generally rated PG-13. Young people ages 13 and up are welcome and 11 and 12 year-olds may attend with the permission of a parent or guardian. The Teen Advisory Board will sell treats to support the library during the show.

Kids will use crackers and candy to build their own houses. All ingredients will be halal. There are three sessions scheduled; 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. We can take 40 participants for each session. Open to children and teens of all ages. Registration is recommended; sign up at the Circulation Desk or by telephoning a 313-791-3800.
