This three part program, given by Jim Glenn, looks at odd, unusual, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, frightening or inspiring, eerie or awesome, but always interesting events and the people who made them. Topics covered include a broad range of American people and events from the late 1700s to the mid-1900s---military and political figures, transportation, music and musicians, state boundaries (geography), sports, Broadway, architecture, attempted assassinations, murder and mayhem, a "miraculous" staircase and the mother of all gunfights. Part three will be on June 14th. No need to attend all three to get the enjoyment of one.

A truck from Shred Legal will be in front of Dearborn Heights City Hall to shred your documents on Saturday, May 14th between the hours of 12:00 Noon – 3:00 P.M. Watch your documents shredded on site. Limited to three boxes or bags of documents. It’s possible the truck could fill up before three o’clock. Absolutely FREE on your part. Everyone welcome. Can include staples and notebook spiral, but no 3 ring binders.

This talk, given by Steven Stanford of H is for Henry Publications, explores family relationships and includes a number of stories that help us understand better the Company and the people behind it.

APR A & B. Join us for a double feature of wonderful movies based on the work of Roald Dahl. At 4:00 PM we'll show The Fantastic Mr. Fox. (2009) An urbane fox cannot resist returning to his farm raiding ways and then must help his community survive the farmers' retaliation. At 6:30 PM the film is Matilda. The story of a wonderful little girl, who happens to be a genius, and her wonderful teacher vs. the worst parents ever and the worst school principal imaginable. BOTH OF THE FILMS are rated PG. All ages are welcome. Younger children are encouraged to attend with an adult. The Teen Advisory Board will be selling refreshments to benefit library programs.

Prospective TAB members are always welcome to attend. Ages 11-17 are welcome.
