During this class, students will cover the very basics of computer usage. We will discuss how to turn on a computer, how to reset the computer, where to plug in the mouse, keyboard and speakers. Also, students will learn keyboard basics, task manager and mouse basics.

However, as promised the Shred Legal truck will be back on June 6th in front of Dearborn Heights City Hall. So bring your documents then. Limited to five boxes or bags of documents. Absolutely FREE on your part. Everyone welcome. Can include staples and notebook spiral, but no 3 ring binders or wet paper.

Michigan Green Leader and Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge Manager Dr. John Hartig will give a 7 PM lecture of his new book titled Bringing Conservation to Cities: Lessons from Building the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge. This is the story of how innovative partnerships are making nature part of everyday urban life in the automobile capitals of the U.S. and Canada in an effort to inspire and develop the next generation of conservationists in urban areas because that is now where 80% of all U.S. and Canadian citizens live. Dr. Hartig will give insights on: the history of the refuge, habitat restoration efforts using innovative partnerships, trans-boundary conservation, reconnecting people to the river through compelling citizen science and outdoor recreation, and practical lessons learned.

Organized crime historian, Paul Kavieff will be talking about Joseph “Legs” Layman and his gang, who kidnapped prominent Detroit underworld gangsters and gamblers in order to solicit a ransom. Hear how this gang were successful during the 1920s, and how Laman turned on his own gang and eventually worked for Henry Bennett of the Ford Motor Company. Led by Bethany Caldarona, participants will learn about superheroes, develop their skills, and then create their own heroic identity and costume. Intended for children in the elementary grades, but all ages are welcome. (Preschool children should be accompanied by someone who can help them with their project.)

Ukulele players and singers of all abilities are encouraged to join us for an evening of musical fun. From ‘Old-Time’ favorites to Pop Classics, all music will be projected onto a screen so that we can all follow the lyrics and chords. The ukulele is an easy, inexpensive fun instrument to play and sing along with. So if you have a ukulele, bring it along or stop by and join the sing-along. Professional vegan cook Jenny Gordon will show you how to make great sandwiches thatare all plant based. On the menu is Chickpea salad sandwich, California vegan wrap featuring avocado and mixed baby greens, Tempeh Reuben, and her own favorite - a grilled cheese with tomato on ancient grain bread.
