We will celebrate Black History Month by celebrating the artistic creativity of the Harlem Renaissance. Teens will use poetry, prose, and speeches of the Harlem Renaissance to create computer generated word art. Word art can be taken home, or displayed in the teen and youth areas of the library. Ages 10-17 are welcome.

YPR. Caregiving is an art but much more demanding than painting or sculpting. Yet those who are called to provide caregiving rarely have the experience or education to guide them. Dakima Jackson, Local Ombudsman for Wayne County, Area Agency on Aging will provide on overview on caregiving, tips for communication on difficult topics, and agencies to contact for additional help.

APR A & B We'll view the film "He Named Me Malala" and then have a brief discussion. Intended for Adults, Teens, and Older Kids. A look at the events leading up to the Taliban's attack on Pakistani schoolgirl, Malala Yousafzai, for speaking out on girls' education followed by the aftermath, including her speech to the United Nations. In the 1940s South, an African-American man is wrongly accused of the killing of a white store owner. In his defense, his white attorney equates him with a lowly hog, to indicate that he didn't have the sense to know what he was doing. Nevertheless convicted, he is sentenced to die, but his godmother and the aunt of the local schoolteacher convince the schoolteacher to go to the convicted man's cell each day to try to reaffirm to him that he is not an animal but a man with dignity. 1999, 105 minutes.

APR A & B. Dracula and his friends try to bring out the monster in his half human, half vampire grandson in order to keep Mavis from leaving the hotel. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 is rated PG for some scary images, action and rude humor. All ages are welcome. Younger children are encouraged to attend with an adult. The Teen Advisory Board will be selling refreshments to benefit library programs. Family Movie Nights usually occur on the last Tuesday of the month. We show the film at 4 pm and again at 6:30 pm. The films are always rated G or PG. The programs are free of charge. Members of the Teen Advisory Board will be selling treats to benefit library programs.
