8th Annual Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River
Join the Friends of the Great Miami River at Heritage Park, 11405 East Miami River Road on Saturday, May 5 in scouting and cleaning the Great Miami Riverbanks. The Clean Sweep provides a unique opportunity to enjoy scenic views while improving the water quality, aesthetics, recreational opportunities and removing threats to wildlife and humans. Mom Prom
Colerain Township will sponsor a dress up date night for boys ages 4 and up and their mothers, grandmothers or other mother figures. The themed evening includes a DJ, pizza, dessert, photo and a flower for mom. Tickets will be sold at the Colerain Township Community Center, 4300 Springdale Rd, Monday-Friday, 8-4:30 pm and 6-9 pm. Tickets are $12 per person Colerain residents and go on sale April 23. Non-resident tickets are $15 per person and go on sale April 30. Cash or check payable to Colerain Township Trustees. Open House - Poole Road Sidewalks
Safe Route to Schools Task Force is having an open house to share three possible plans and get community feedback. The open house is from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Colerain Middle School, 4700 Poole Road. The open house will be an opportunity to see the plans from Kleiningers & Associates Inc. which show different configurations of sidewalks on Poole Road from the Colerain Middle School to the intersection of Poole and Cheviot roads. The sidewalks are part of a Safe Routes to Schools plan developed by a task force in 2008 that included officials from Colerain Township and the Northwest Local School District, as well as parents and residents from the area around Colerain elementary and middle schools. Safe Routes to School is an Ohio Department of Transportation program started in 2006 with a goal of making it easier and safer for students to get to school. It uses federal funds to give grants to communities to make the necessary improvements. Colerain is set to receive more than $268,000 in Safe Routes to School grant money to build sidewalks.

Community Shred Day
The Citizen's Police Academy 3rd Annual Spring Shred Day has been set for Saturday, May 26th from 10 am to 12 pm at the parking lot of the old builders first source next to our Community Resource Center (7600 Colerain Avenue). Plan to bring all your shredables, with clips removed (staples will work). Shredding is free, however we will be accepting donations for the Citizens' Police Academy!
