Town Hall Meeting is scheduled at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 [Wed, 9 May 2012 13:15:1]

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

In the wake of dangerous, illegal behaviors that took place in our community last weekend, newspapers and websites around the world “opened a window” to Ohio University and Athens. These images and the unacceptable behaviors they displayed are an embarrassment. We are better than this. People that live here for a just few years or for a lifetime have rejected these behaviors and their related distortion of what our community is about. The City of Athens and Ohio University join with your friends and neighbors in condemning this behavior, which created life-threatening risks and harmed our community as a whole and each of us as individuals.

We must come together to unwaveringly create and foster a safe and positive atmosphere for our community. Only then can we demonstrate who we truly are.

A Town Hall Meeting is scheduled at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the West Portico of Memorial Auditorium, on the College Green at the intersection of Union and College Streets. All community members, including students, are encouraged to attend. We will be joined by other University and City leaders to discuss these serious issues and answer questions.

Paul Wiehl Roderick J. McDavis
Mayor President
City of Athens Ohio University
Fourth Annual Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange Benefit [Thu, 3 May 2012 12:1:38]

Fourth Annual Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange Benefit
Athens, OH April 26, 2012-The Fourth Annual Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange will be held at ARTS/West, located at 132 W. State St. in Athens, Ohio May 4-6, 2012.

The Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange is a three-day fundraising event for ARTS/West, our community performing arts center located at 132 West State Street, in Athens, Ohio. This year will be the fourth installment of the exchange, that grows in attendance and donations each year it has occurred. The entire basement of ARTS/West was filled with clothing items last year, and many bags of clothes that remained after the event were donated to local charitable organizations.

Kicking off on the evening of Friday, May 4th, the exchange will begin with a opening party event featuring refreshments. Regular exchange hours will occur the following afternoons of Saturday and Sunday May 5th and 6th from 12-5 pm.

The premise of the exchange is simple:
•	Pay a flat entry fee of $5 that allows them in all three days of the event.
•	People may take as many clothing items as they bring.
• All additional items beyond what the patron has brought will cost $1.
Anyone who brings donations early to ARTS/West will receive a golden ticket that allows them to take as many items as they like. Because the exchange will occur during Ohio University's Mom's Weekend, as it did last year, we expect a good turnout of Moms at this family friendly event.

Since 2005, ARTS/West has become one of the premiere art venue in Athens. Hosting events such concerts, plays, after school, classes, and art exhibits, ARTS/West truly is an asset to the community. The Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange is merely one of many annual events that makes ARTS/West shine.
